| Selon ceux qui ont vu ce très rare palmier dans la nature, il surpasse facilement en beauté tous les autres Coccothrinax, y compris le fameux Coccothrinax crinita. Connu d'une seule petite zone côtière au nord de Cuba, où il pousse parmi une végétation côtière rabougrie, il est sérieusement menacé d'extinction. C'est un palmier assez petit au stipe élancé couvert d'une épaisse couche de fibres ondulées, surmonté d'une couronne très dense de feuilles circulaires, implantées serrées, rigides, épaisses et coriaces, vert foncé, au bout d'un court pétiole. Ce palmier est sans doute l'un des plus désirables des Coccothrinax. | |
